DEL Basket - Anemos 81-61

A good game for Anemos against DEL Basket from Denges - the strongest team of the league - ended with a defeat with 81-61. While DEL Basket is clearly a better team, Anemos fought using defense as the main weapon, which was indeed very successful for parts of the game. After a slow-start in the first quarter (8-1 in the first few minutes) with Vaggelis still in the bench to get in to the game fresh, Anemos started scoring, albeit, without decreasing the margine ending in 25-9 for the first quarter. In the second quarter Anemos starting pressing a lot in the defense with a very strong 3-2 zone (with Pantelis covering a lot of space with a lot of running) while in the offense, Francesco and Vaggelis were in a good day and managed to score a lot of points despite the very aggressive defense of DEL. The quarter ended with partial score 11-15, with Anemos behind 12 points in the HT mark. The beginning of the third quarter was also slow and this was the key for the defeat. DEL started strong but the referees did 3 consecutive easy mistakes favoring DEL which eventually increased the margin up to 27 points (63-36). In the last quarter Anemos started playing better defense and Tassos started scoring as well which helped to cut down the deficit to 20 points with a 18-25 partial score the last 10 minutes of the game. This was the last away game for Anemos, for which Vaggelis scored 27 points, Francesco 23, Tassos 8, Kostas A 2 and Pantelis 1, while Dimitris, Thanos, Kostas L, Vassilis and Manos participated and Sakis was the scorekeeper.

Anemos - La Tour 72-48

Anemos huge win against La Tour with 72-48 was mostly based on amazing defense for the biggest part of the  game keeping the opponents to only 48 points. Coach Thanos read the opponent and decided an immensely successful 3-2 zone. But this was not the end of the story, Coach Thanos asked for a lot of passes in the offense to find the free players which helped Anemos to be very effective in offense as well, with Francesco scoring 31 points with 7 three-pointers! Vaggelis added (a bit less than his usual) 17 points with a lot of work in the paint and many offensive rebounds and second attacks. Pantelis contributed 10 points with amazing defense, Manos added 7 points with some good shots in the beginning of the game, Kostas scored 3 points and offered good passing and organizing of the offense. Last but not least Tasos and Grigoris scored 2 points each contributing a lot in defense, rebounds and in organizing the offense as well. The details are as usual available here.
